On this Mothers Day I send blessings and gratitude for all women… not one of us would be here without a mother! Today I wrote this blog post about love and safety, feeling safe in the world … not really thinking about mothers, but now on reflection realising our mothers womb was our first place in this incarnation we hopefully felt loved and safe. ❤️🌹 whatever happened after, we came in as innocent beings of love… and you are still that!
Right now, the world feels like a very uncertain place.
So many people are carrying worry in their hearts. There are too many unknowns, shifting landscapes, and moments where it feels difficult to find steady ground beneath our feet.
Yet beneath all the noise and turbulence, one simple truth remains- Every human being on this planet wants to feel loved and safe.
It is one of our most fundamental needs.
Safety allows the body to soften. Love allows the heart to open. From this place, we remember who we truly are.
For a moment, I invite you to pause and imagine something simple.
Imagine someone gently holding you.
Not fixing anything, nor asking anything of you.
Just holding you.
Their presence is steady and calm.
Their arms wrap around you and you hear the words….
‘You are loved. You are safe.’
Allow your body to feel what those words might be like if they were completely true.
Notice what happens inside you.
Perhaps the breath deepens. Perhaps the shoulders soften. Perhaps something inside you exhales for the first time today.
This is where the sacred practice of Bone Breathing begins.
Bone breathing is a deeply embodied practice that invites us to breathe not just into the lungs, but into the very architecture of the body – the bones themselves.
Our bones are ancient.
They hold memory, strength, and the quiet wisdom of our ancestors.
When we bring breath and awareness into the bones, we invite the nervous system to settle and the body to remember its natural state of grounded presence.
Through bone breathing, we return home to our physical form, and embodiment is one of the greatest gateways to feeling safe.
Because when we inhabit our bodies fully, we begin to realise something profound-even when the world around us is uncertain, our body can still be a place of refuge.
Deep within the bones there is a steady rhythm of life, a quiet pulse that whispers:
You are here.
You belong.
As we breathe into our bones, we also remember that we are not alone…..We are held within a much greater body — the living body of the Earth.
Our ancestors and many indigenous cultures spoke of the great celestial beings that accompany life on this planet. They called the moon Grandmother Moon, keeper of cycles and intuition. They called the sun Father Sun, giver of warmth, light and life. These luminous allies move above us each day and night, steady and faithful in their rhythm. Below us, Mother Gaia holds our bones within her vast body of mountains, rivers and stone.
When we practice bone breathing, we reconnect with this ancient web of support.
Breathing in, we draw nourishment from the Earth beneath us.
Breathing out, we release tension back into her caring embrace.
The bones become bridges between heaven and earth.
Grandmother Moon watches over our dreams.
Father Sun warms our cells with vitality.
Mother Gaia steadies our steps and reminds us that we belong here.
And slowly, gently, the body begins to remember:
Safety is not something we must chase outside ourselves.
It is something we can cultivate within.
Even in uncertain times…..Even in a changing world.
Through breath. Through presence. Through the sacred architecture of our bones.
The practice of bone breathing invites us to root into the quiet truth that lives within every cell-
