A Scottish Stag Medicine Drum of Ancient Celtic Wisdom
The Owl Guardian The Elder’s Drum Celtic Wisdom from the Ancient Forests
There are drums that call us to dance, there are drums that call us to battle…and then there are the rare few that call us to remember, Grandfather Stag is one of these drums!
His tone is low and ancient, carrying the resonance of old forests, mist-covered mountains, and the quiet footsteps of those who walked these lands long before us. Crafted from a beautifully thick Scottish stag hide, he is steady, grounding and deeply reassuring.
Born beneath the Preseli Hills during a time of sacred prayer and ceremony, Grandfather Stag carries the wisdom of the ancestors, the blessing of the Welsh dragons, and the medicine of the ancient forests.

Description
This drum speaks with the deep voice of the Earth.
Crafted from an exceptionally thick Scottish Stag hide, his resonance is rich, grounding and ancient—more like the echo of distant thunder through old mountains than the beat of a modern drum. He is a drum that asks you to slow down, breathe deeply, and listen to what lives beneath the surface.
Handcrafted with prayer and ceremony in my home beneath the sacred Preseli Hills of West Wales, where the ancient Bluestones of Stonehenge were first born. Throughout her creation I called upon the blessings of the land, the ancestors, the spirits of the trees and animals, Father Sun, Grandmother Moon and the unseen worlds.
This is a drum of wisdom, protection and deep remembering.
The spirit of the Stag has long been honoured throughout the Celtic lands as the noble guardian of the forest.
He teaches us to stand tall in our own truth, to lead with quiet confidence and unwavering integrity.
Stag medicine brings dignity, patience and natural authority. He reminds us that true strength never needs to shout. Like the great stags who spend much of the year in solitude before stepping forward to lead the herd, he teaches us that periods of stillness prepare us for our greatest service.
The Stag invites new beginnings, fertile ideas and the courage to be fully seen.
The hoop is crafted from Ash, one of the great sacred trees of Celtic tradition.
Its roots reach deep into the Earth while its branches stretch towards the heavens, creating a living bridge between worlds.
Ash reminds us to become deeply rooted within ourselves whilst remaining open to divine inspiration. It is a tree of stability, protection and inner strength, a guardian that helps us remain centred when life feels uncertain.
Its medicine teaches that the strongest trees are those whose roots reach deepest.
Watching over this drum is a small Owl talisman.
Owl is the keeper of hidden wisdom and sacred sight, he sees through illusion and invites us to look honestly at ourselves with compassion rather than fear, as guardian of the night and guide between worlds, Owl has long been honoured by Celtic peoples as a companion of the ancestors and a protector of souls travelling between realms.
He whispers, “Look beyond appearances. Trust your inner knowing. The truth has been waiting for you all along.”
Alongside the owl oracle card that came for this Drum, was also the card from the Spirit of the Drum Oracle- Tar Drum, which is all about duality …being able to see into both worlds. This Drum offers assistance and wisdom to cut through the illusion, to open hearts, to entwine darkness with light… stepping into wholeness and balance.
Nestled within the drum is a sacred medicine pouch containing:
• Preseli Bluestone, anchoring the drum to the ancient dragon lines and ancestral spirits of this sacred land.
• Quartz gathered from the Preseli Hills, amplifying healing, clarity and intention while bringing light into every journey.
• Hawthorn, the ancient tree of thresholds, protection and the open heart, offering courage during times of grief, transition and new beginnings.
Together these medicines create a powerful bridge between Earth, ancestors and spirit.
Crafted with Devotion, this drum is laced in an open-hearted style with 30 lacings, a copper hoop, wrapped in soft organic white cloth, offers both beauty and protection. Woven with 30 lacings, each one a prayer joining hide to wood, Earth to Sky, and keeper to spirit. The number Three has always been sacred within the Celtic traditions—honouring the three worlds, the threefold flame, and the great rhythm of birth, death and rebirth. The Zero is the ancient circle—the womb of creation, the endless wheel of existence, the place from which all journeys begin and to which they eventually return.
His beater is handcrafted from local Hazel, the Celtic tree of wisdom and inspiration, with a soft chamois head filled with alpaca fleece and adorned with recycled rabbit fur.
A Drum for the Wise Walker
He walks at the pace of the old forests, he is for those who are ready to listen more deeply than they speak, for the healer, for the ceremonialist, for the space-holder, for those called to journey between worlds with compassion and integrity.
He reminds us that the deepest wisdom waits quietly beneath the roots, beneath the stones, beneath the heartbeat.
If you feel something ancient stirring within you as you read these words, perhaps he has already found you.
The Spirit of Grandfather Stag
“Walk with me into the old forest, where wisdom grows slowly and silence is a sacred teacher.
Lay your worries beneath my hooves.
Stand beside the ancient Ash and remember that strength is not found in rushing, but in remaining deeply rooted while reaching towards the light.
You do not need to become louder to be heard.
Become deeper.
Become steadier.
Become true.
The forest has been waiting for you.”
Every drum I create is guided by intuition, oracle, and spirit. I invite in the natural elements, the ancestors of the land, and the celestial currents so each drum becomes a living bridge — a union of tree, animal, human, and cosmos.
Each of my drums is personally signed by me in golden ink. Gold is the metal of the sun, of incorruptible truth and eternal light, and my signature is offered as a final blessing — a witness that this drum was birthed with intention, prayer, and care. In this way, the signing becomes a quiet rite of completion, affirming the drum’s passage from my hands into its own life of service, song, and remembrance.
When I birth drums, I call in the natural elements of the land, the stars, and the moon. Guided by intuition, oracle cards, and the whispers of my spirit guides, each drum becomes a bridge between Earth and Sky, carrying the blessings of Father Sun, Grandmother Moon, and our wild Mother Earth.
Every element woven into this drum has been chosen with care and devotion.
I have been birthing drums for over 20 years, inspired by the ancient memory of women drummers and Layne Redmond’s When the Women Were Drummers. Each drum is a return to the primordial heartbeat—the rhythm of creation, the pulse of our Mother Earth.
Shipping Policy
Each drum I birth is a sacred creation — a one-of-a-kind being infused with prayer, intention, and ceremony. Because of the deep care that goes into their making, I also take great care in their journey to you.
To ensure that every drum travels safely and arrives in good time, I now send a maximum of two drums per shipment. This allows me to track and tend to each parcel with the attention it deserves and to minimise any risk of loss or damage in transit.
If your order includes more than two drums, they will be lovingly packaged and sent in separate parcels, a few days apart. Additional postage costs will apply for each separate shipment, and I’ll always confirm these details with you before dispatch.
This approach helps each drum’s energy — and the practical delivery process — flow more smoothly, ensuring that your sacred instruments reach you with the care they deserve.
Thank you for your understanding and support in helping me honour the spirit of this work and ensure each drum’s safe passage to its new guardian.
