13″ Deer Drum with Birch Hoop, Eithne, Aries Drum

Birthed beneath the fire-seed of the Aries New Moon, this Deer Drum carries the spark of beginnings, the first breath, the first step, the courage to become.

This drum beats with the rhythm of initiation, of stepping forward when the path is not yet clear, guided by instinct, by pulse, by soul-knowing. May its voice awaken your inner fire, soft yet unwavering… and lead you to walk your path with the heart of Deer and the flame of new light.

Deer walks gently yet with great power.
Its medicine includes- Grace and sensitivity, Deep listening, Balance between strength and softness, Gratitude, generosity, and sacrifice for the higher good, Connection to the woodland goddess and the unseen pathways.

Deer teaches us how to move through the world with an open heart and clear perception, how to touch wounded places with love rather than force, and how to choose alternative paths when the obvious road no longer serves.

Every drum I create is guided by intuition, oracle, and spirit. I invite in the natural elements, the ancestors of the land, and the celestial currents so each drum becomes a living bridge — a union of tree, animal, human, and cosmos.

Description

This drum was birthed under the Preseli Mountains, close to the ancient bluestone quarry from which the stones of Stonehenge were taken. This land holds memory…of ceremony, migration, star knowledge, and stone wisdom.

Hide is Welsh Deer
The Hoop is Birch -tree of beginnings, renewal, and purification
The Handle is Celtic Cross style, anchoring the drum as both compass and altar

Tied to the drum is a Medicine Pouch holding-
Preseli Bluestone – to strengthen one’s connection to the spirits of the lower world, those of plants, animals, and the elements.
Some use bluestone as a kind of spiritual anchor.

Rose Quartz- to connect to the heart chakra, the centre of love, Rose quartz guides you to deepen relationships and embrace kindness, compassion, tenderness, and love toward yourself and those around you.

Bay leaf for protection and purification

The drum beater is made from hazel wood collected from my summer trip to County Clare – symbolising wisdom, inspiration, and poetic sight. It has a plain chamois beater head, softly stuffed with local alpaca wool, decorated with rabbit fur.

“Eithne – the sacred seed of becoming.”

Eithne is an old Gaelic name, traditionally feminine, and pronounced EN-ya (like the singer Enya, whose birth name is Eithne).
Meaning “kernel,” “seed,” or “grain”—something small that holds the potential for new life.
I felt that this aligned perfectly with…
the Aries New Moon (pure initiation, the first spark)
Birch energy (new beginnings, fresh cycles)
and the Deer’s gentle emergence into new pathways
It carries the inevitability of growth.

Every drum I create is guided by intuition, oracle, and spirit. I invite in the natural elements, the ancestors of the land, and the celestial currents so each drum becomes a living bridge — a union of tree, animal, human, and cosmos.

When you first play this drum, you awaken its true voice. I never sound the drums before they leave me — this initiation belongs only to you.

I began this path over 20 years ago, after reading When the Women Were Drummers by Layne Redmond. My calling has always been to make drums that connect us back to the heartbeat of the Earth Mother, honouring the animals, trees, and elements in the most ethical way possible.

Each of my drums is personally signed by me in golden ink. Gold is the metal of the sun, of incorruptible truth and eternal light, and my signature is offered as a final blessing — a witness that this drum was birthed with intention, prayer, and care. In this way, the signing becomes a quiet rite of completion, affirming the drum’s passage from my hands into its own life of service, song, and remembrance.

Shipping Policy

Each drum I birth is a sacred creation — a one-of-a-kind being infused with prayer, intention, and ceremony. Because of the deep care that goes into their making, I also take great care in their journey to you.

To ensure that every drum travels safely and arrives in good time, I now send a maximum of two drums per shipment. This allows me to track and tend to each parcel with the attention it deserves and to minimise any risk of loss or damage in transit.

If your order includes more than two drums, they will be lovingly packaged and sent in separate parcels, a few days apart. Additional postage costs will apply for each separate shipment, and I’ll always confirm these details with you before dispatch.

This approach helps each drum’s energy — and the practical delivery process — flow more smoothly, ensuring that your sacred instruments reach you with the care they deserve.

Thank you for your understanding and support in helping me honour the spirit of this work and ensure each drum’s safe passage to its new guardian.
