The Black Rose Magdalene/Christ Drum
The Void * The Womb * The Drum of Sacred Transformation
This drum is born of the Holy Dark …a vessel of the unseen, the hidden, and the profoundly transformative path of the Black Rose.
Formed as an egg drum, it carries the primordial shape of creation, the womb-space where life is not yet visible, but is already becoming. Its deep, dark red hide moves toward the threshold of black, holding the mystery of blood, earth, and night. This is the Black Rose of initiation … the one that blooms in the unseen chambers of the soul.
This is the Rose of the Black Madonna, the keeper of the inner temple, the guide through the dark night where illusion falls away and truth is forged through experience.
NOTE- All drums come with drum care info and drum connection journeys, this drum purchase also includes my Mary Magdalene Course- Rooted in Her.

Description
This drum is born in the shape of the sacred egg — the original vessel of life, mystery, and becoming — and carries within it the ancient story of resurrection witnessed and declared.
According to early Christian tradition, Mary Magdalene travelled to Rome to proclaim the resurrection of Jesus Christ before Emperor Tiberius. Holding a simple egg, she spoke the truth she had witnessed. The Emperor laughed, saying her words were as impossible as the egg turning red — and in that moment, the egg transformed, becoming a brilliant crimson.
A sign.
A miracle.
A living testimony that truth, when spoken from the heart, carries the power to transform reality itself.
The hoop of this drum is crafted from mulberry wood, a tree steeped in ancient myth and quiet wisdom. In Chinese tradition, Mulberry is known as the Tree of Life and the Herb of Immortality, a living symbol of continuity, renewal, and the sustaining thread of existence. Some scholars believe that the Biblical “sycamore” may in fact have been the mulberry, linking it subtly to sacred texts and stories of revelation. The Roman poet Virgil referred to it as the Tree of Gold, while the artist Vincent van Gogh was so captivated by its presence that he painted it as a living force of colour and movement. Mulberry carries the wisdom of perfect timing — it does not bud until the frost has fully passed, embodying patience, discernment, and trust in the right moment. Then, almost overnight, it bursts into life, symbolising sudden awakening and the swift arrival of what has long been preparing beneath the surface. In ancient Greece, it was dedicated to Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategy, and honoured as a tree of life-restoring power. As the frame of this drum, Mulberry holds the medicine of resurrection through timing — the knowing of when to wait, and when to rise.
At its heart is a Vesica Piscis handle, formed by two overlapping copper hoops, each wrapped in red cloth . This ancient symbol marks the original spiritual gateway — the womb of creation where two worlds meet. Here, the divine and the human, the masculine and the feminine, the chalice and the flame, cross and consecrate one another. It is the geometry from which the Flower of Life is born, the blueprint of life itself.
Here, in this dark rose expression, the Vesica becomes:
- the womb of transformation
- the place where identity dissolves and reforms
- the crossing point between who you were and who you are becoming
This is not just a drum.
It is a red egg held in the hand of the Magdalene.
A living symbol of resurrection.
A call to witness what is real.
The lower hoop (covered in red fabric) holds 22 sacred lacings, carrying the Magdalene current — the chalice, the womb, the grounding and holding of divine love in form. It speaks of devotion, embodiment, earth wisdom, and the holy feminine as keeper of the Grail.
The upper hoop holds 33 lacings, anchoring Christ Consciousness — the solar heart, the anointed one, the resurrection frequency, and the remembrance of unity beyond separation.
Together, they form a living prayer of Sacred Union- the Vesica Piscis.
Within the medicine bundle rests a bluestone, a rose quartz and dried dark red red rose from my altar, dried mugwort for dreaming, and the umbilical knot of the drum.
The beater is crafted from locally coppiced hazel, a tree of wisdom, prophecy, and poetic sight. The beater head is made from soft red fabric and filled with alpaca wool, offering a gentle yet resonant touch. Wrapped with back ribbon.
The Medicine of the Black Rose
The Black Rose is the path of-
deep purification — the shedding of what is no longer true
shadow integration — meeting what has been hidden with courage
the void — the fertile emptiness where new life prepares itself
true transformation — not surface change, but soul-level alchemy
This drum does not bypass. It walks with you through.
This drum maybe for….
grief work and deep emotional release
rites of passage and threshold crossings
shadow work and inner alchemy
womb work, void work, and silent listening
those walking the path of the Black Madonna and Magdalene
It is a companion for the moments when:
you cannot see the way forward,
but you are willing to keep walking.
I named this drum….Rosa Nigra Qyāmta
The Black Rose of Resurrection
Rosa Nigra — the Black Rose, the hidden feminine, the Holy Dark, the womb of transformation
Qyāmta (Aramaic) — rising, resurrection, the act of standing again after descent
This name holds the paradox at the heart of this drum:
That which enters the dark… rises changed.
It is not resurrection as escape —
but resurrection born through the void.
“She Who Dies Into Truth and Rises Whole.”
This is an initiatory current of…
descent without fear
the stripping away of illusion
the sacred meeting with shadow
the quiet, undeniable rising that follows
It is the path of the Black Madonna,
the Magdalene in the tomb,
the Christ in the underworld
The drum is dyed red deer- through several dye baths of natural dyes, the deer medicine brings gentleness, listening, grace, peace, and unconditional love. Deer teaches us the strength of sensitivity and the gift of guiding others with compassion. Held and sounded through its Cedar oval hoop, a sacred wood long associated with longevity, protection, and preservation. Cedar has been used across cultures to cleanse, heal, and guard sacred space, and to summon benevolent spirits during ritual and invocation. Many traditions teach that Cedar holds ancestral presence, bestowed at the beginning of existence, making it a bridge between worlds and generations. Cedar is also a tree of focus and illumination, helping the keeper remain steady, clear, and rooted while working in subtle realms. It has long been planted to protect sacred groves and holy ground, and in this drum it serves as a guardian—preserving the drum’s voice and the integrity of the work it is used for.
Each of my drums is personally signed by me in golden ink. Gold is the metal of the sun, of incorruptible truth and eternal light, and my signature is offered as a final blessing — a witness that this drum was birthed with intention, prayer, and care. In this way, the signing becomes a quiet rite of completion, affirming the drum’s passage from my hands into its own life of service, song, and remembrance.
When I birth drums, I call in the natural elements of the land, the stars, and the moon. Guided by intuition, oracle cards, and the whispers of my spirit guides, each drum becomes a bridge between Earth and Sky, carrying the blessings of Father Sun, Grandmother Moon, and our wild Mother Earth.
Mary Magdalene moves through this drum as the rhythm of the heart—awakening deep dreams, clearing stagnant energies, and sending the heartbeat of the Earth outward into the cosmos, resonant with Gaia herself. The beat becomes a prayer, an offering, and a rhythm that makes space for your deepest wishes to take root.
Every element woven into this drum has been chosen with care and devotion. The hides I use are ethically sourced within the UK, and by working with them, we honour their life force rather than allow it to be discarded.
I have been birthing drums for over 20 years, inspired by the ancient memory of women drummers and Layne Redmond’s When the Women Were Drummers. Each drum is a return to the primordial heartbeat—the rhythm of creation, the pulse of our Mother Earth.
Shipping Policy
Each drum I birth is a sacred creation — a one-of-a-kind being infused with prayer, intention, and ceremony. Because of the deep care that goes into their making, I also take great care in their journey to you.
To ensure that every drum travels safely and arrives in good time, I now send a maximum of two drums per shipment. This allows me to track and tend to each parcel with the attention it deserves and to minimise any risk of loss or damage in transit.
If your order includes more than two drums, they will be lovingly packaged and sent in separate parcels, a few days apart. Additional postage costs will apply for each separate shipment, and I’ll always confirm these details with you before dispatch.
This approach helps each drum’s energy — and the practical delivery process — flow more smoothly, ensuring that your sacred instruments reach you with the care they deserve.
Thank you for your understanding and support in helping me honour the spirit of this work and ensure each drum’s safe passage to its new guardian.
